I look for the simple amongst the grand, one weed, maybe a cluster of flowers, a bird in a tree, one gopher standing still.

So when I see something like this rusty drab grass, I may end up writing a piece of music around the raspy stem. They don't last...it's gone in months. The seeds fall, the stems rot, the blades succumb to mold.

It's so passes to repeat the verbiage of the cycle of life. You could watch the stuff grow and not see much in a fortnight. As common a plant as fields of grass are, the stuff feels pretty good on barefeet in spring, if you've traveled far.
