Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the mountains north of Ushuaia in the Tierra del Fuego region. There's a dandy place there called Hotel Kauyaken about 10 kilometres from the city. This is a short walk around the bend in the road from the hotel.

Time

We were on our honeymoon and up here due to snowstorms and flight delays, missing our cruise at the first boarding, and had to meet at the second in Ushuaia. This was a mid-afternoon shot, while we were out discovering the country.

Lighting

Completely natural lighting, this was a random shot with a cheap camera with very limited adjustments.

Equipment

This was a cell phone camera. Today's cell phones can sometimes have phenomenal cameras in an otherwise cheap unit, as in this case.

Inspiration

The awesome view into the distance, and the clarity at that altitude and distance from pollution, along with the majesty of the peaks themselves was breathtaking.

Editing

Absolutely none. This is what it looked like in the original. Granted, best of 10 shots, but still unprocessed.

In my camera bag

This trusty cell phone with the phenomenal camera!

Feedback

Be prepared to hike some distance to find desirable shot stands, but also be prepared to be blown away by the ease of getting great shots once you're in position.
