Location
This photo was taken in my living room, I set up a backdrop and some lighting went for it. It would be great to have a proper studio, maybe in the future.Time
It was taken on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I was bored, the dog was bored so we set a little shoot up!Lighting
As I said it was a bright Sunday afternoon in my lounge so it was a case of setting up a black back drop and a couple of lights, this was actually taken with continuous lighting with soft boxes as light modifiers, nothing complex and something everyone could do pretty cheaplyEquipment
This was shot with my little Fuji X100T handheld and two lighting rigs with soft boxes.Inspiration
It was just a spur of the moment thing to be honest, I had nothing to do that afternoon and couldn't be bothered going out. The good thing about having a dog is that you can always get them to model for you when no one else will. Give him a ball and wave some cheese around and he'll do anything. It helps that I have a very good looking dog also!Editing
Yes as with all my photos I run them through Lightroom with them been raw files, a tiny bit of sharpening and adjustment of the blacks and that was about it for this imageIn my camera bag
I use to carry loads of Nikon equipment but just got sick of carrying it all around so I sold up and cut my kit right down and moved to the Fuji system. Now I literally just have a afuji X100t, Fuji XT1 with a 18-135 lens. I have Cactus speedlights, and a couple of really good tripods. My aim was to buy more glass for the XT1 but honestly I rarely touch it, I find I use my X100t more.Feedback
Yes buy yourself some continuous lighting to start so you can move it around and see exactly what effect the positioning has on your subject, lighting can really make an image pop if it's placed correctly. Don't get into the mindset that you need to spend thousands on lighting to get a good image you'll be surprised what you can do with a couple of speedlights.
