Location
This photo was taken after my husbands 60th glow in the dark birthday party. We had moved and stuck a bunch of dead tress in the yard to hang lights on and this tree ended up being very close to the feeder so he decided that it was going to be his perch! He was constantly chasing away any other hummers that came close to his feeder. He put on quite a show for us that day! The photo ops were numerous but this one was my favorite!Time
This photo was taken August 7, 2015 @ 3:35 pm.Lighting
His perch was on the north side of our patio so the lighting was a little low.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 50D camera with a Canon 55-250mm 1.1m/3.6ft zoom lens and tripod.Inspiration
The hummingbird was my mothers favorite bird. We used to sit together outside and watch them fight and chase each other. Their movements are so unpredictable and I think that's what I enjoy the most about photographing them. It's always a challenge to try and anticipate their next move in order to capture "the perfect shot".Editing
I cropped, sharpened and brightened if I recall. Possibly a contrast adjustment too.In my camera bag
I normally carry my Canon EOS 50D, zoom lens, wide angle lens and tripod.Feedback
Patience!!! It's almost like you have to be in the right place at the right time!
