Panoramic view of Dubai across Business Bay. A huge artificial bay, artificially filled with water in an area where normally there would be only dust and desert. An example of the things you can do if you have oil and live in the short moment in time when the rest of the world needs this oil and is willing to pay dearly for it. That moment in time when technology has developed enough so that huge amounts or energy are needed, but not yet far enough to have more elegant ways (like nuclear fusion) to generate this energy than the most primitive of chemical reactions (like burning oil).
