Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Toronto Zoo in the African Savanna area.

Time

I captured this photograph at approximately 12:30 p.m. in natural lighting.

Lighting

No flash was required on this photograph as on this particular day it was a beautiful warm sunny day and the natural lighting was perfect!

Equipment

I used my Canon camera which was hand held. I do not believe you do not need to have an expensive camera to capture a beautiful photograph. I feel strongly that cameras do not take the photograph but photographers do.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take the photo of the majestic African lion as it reminded me of the movie The Lion King. Mufasa was standing proudly on the throne of Pride Rock which is exactly what this African lion was doing.

Editing

I cropped the photo a bit and then I used a texture similar to the African lion's colour.

In my camera bag

In my camera bag I carry my Canon camera, extra batteries, various filters, lens filter cleaner and extra memory cards.

Feedback

I strongly believe that every photograph tells a story, so make your photograph tell a story. Photography changes the way you see things. You notice colours, textures, people, nature … everything around you looks different when you start to see the world through a lens. Have fun and enjoy doing what you love doing, which is taking photographs. Don’t follow your dreams … chase them!
