Location
This photo was taken at a state park close to Charleston, WV.Time
The time of day this photo was taken was in the middle of the afternoon. I found a pocket of sunlight deep in the woods that once filtered through the canopy was the perfect light on her face.Lighting
I really loved the idea of placing her in the one spot of sunlight while the rest of the forest was shaded around her. I knew with her dress being white it would reflect well on her face.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark II camera was used in this shot.Inspiration
The inspiration for this photo was simply to capture the simple nature of the child in surroundings she enjoys.Editing
In post processing, I simply just adjusted the highlights slightly and enhanced the color of the green foliage. In my camera bag
Typically I carry my camera body (currently is the Canon 6D Mark II), a canon 35MM lens, canon 70-200MM lens, additional battery packs and SD cards. I also keep small cleansing cloth for the lenses.Feedback
The age of the child in the photo was 6 and typically with children of this age I find it's nice to pose them for photos but having them to move in ways that is natural for them really captures the true spirit of the child. For her, dancing and spinning was her favorite thing to do at the time and it reflected well in her photos. For boys, running and jumping really reflects well in photos as it just shows the child in their natural form and favorite state of play.
