I took this photo at a wild bird rescue centre near York, England. Wildlife and nature are absolutely my favourite subjects for my amateur photography so it was lovely being able to get that little bit closer to some of the more shy woodland animals.Time
It was late morning on a very cold but dry winters day a couple of years ago. It wasn't the brightest of skies but the lighting was enough for what I was shooting.Lighting
It didn't need to be a blue sky big sunshine kind of day for the shot but not being a dull day did help.Equipment
This was shot on my canon 850D with a 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
Birds of prey always have the most stunning eyes and they stare for such a long time. I wanted a shot that I could put up in my room that would show the textures of this bird and the piercing eyes amongst the feathers.Editing

I have my Canon 850D, my 18-55mm lens, 75-300mm sense, mini tripod, lenses cleaners and snacks. Love the snacks. I also have a notebook that I write my preferred settings on for particular shots such as running water, sunsets etc as my memory isn't that good and having them in a book is so helpful.Feedback
Patience! Lots of patience and go out to places where you think you're more likely to find the subjects you're after. We're always walking around local woodlands, visiting sanctuary and farms etc. Great fun being outdoors and you get much more opportunity.
