Outstanding shot! The eyes and freckles is what makes this portrait! Very beautiful!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my living room, which on occasion doubles as a studio. You don't need a lot of space for portraiture or beauty photography and moving around some furniture is also great exercise!

Time

It was the middle of the day, that's the beauty of studio lighting... any part of the day will do.

Lighting

I have a strong preference of keeping it simple. So in this photo (as in many others) I used only one light. A beauty dish is my go-to, but I do like to experiment with other light modifiers.

Equipment

This was made with a Nikon D750 with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens (love this one), although I do own a tripod, I never use it.

Inspiration

I just finished a course in makeup artistry and I wanted to experiment a bit with makeup. This model had such gorgeous blue eyes and lovely freckles, the just had to be the main focus of the shot.

Editing

I always post-process my photos. I start my workflow in Lightroom, where I tweak colours en contrast. Thereafter I continu the process in Photoshop, to clean up things.

In my camera bag

I going on location I like to travel light. One camera (Nikon D750) and my trusted Lens the 24-70mm. For beauty shots (in studio) I prefer using my Nikon 105mm.

Feedback

When starting out with beauty or portrait photography, keep the lighting simple, one light is more than enough to create gorgeous images.
