I've camped at this spot dozens of times and never had a sky quite like this. It had stormed all night so there where plenty of clouds left at daybreak to reflect the rising sun. It just so happened to be the morning of my Birthday, I like to say that it was my gift from nature , and one of the most beautiful at that .Equipment
This was taken with my first dslr , a Nikon d3200 on a tripod ,using a shutter cable release .Inspiration
Seeing all of the gorgeous landscape photos on ViewBug by such talented people has always inspired me to want to capture at least one good shot that I could maybe be proud of. I'm so thankful that my peers have given this photo such a warm welcome.Editing
For post - processing I use Corel Paintshop Pro x 8 . I adjusted the contrast , enhanced the vibrancy a bit , and a slight touch of tone mappingIn my camera bag
I started with the Nikon d3200 but have since been using the Nikon d7200, I carry in my bag a 18-300 mm Nikon lens , a 30 mm Nikon lens, & a 60mm Nikon Macro lens along with a few 64G sd cards & of course extra batteries. I never go without my tripod and shutter release cables for I tend to shake a bit, and I carry it all in a camera backpack now which has made it so much easier to get your gear to where you are going.Feedback
Knowing what you want to shoot and at what time of day is key. Weather conditions play a major role in the mood or look you want to achieve, It doesn't always work out the way you want or hope - so be patient and persistent .
