Location
This photo was taken in my garage studio, maybe 200 square feet of space. My puppy Asa had decided that she wanted to investigate what I was up to one day, and I was lucky enough to capture this.Time
Sometime in the afternoon, if I recall correctly. I had blacked out my studio, so the time of day never really had a lot of bearing.Lighting
Experimentation, and guessing and checking was how I learned to light. Working with different surfaces and techniques has definitely been some of the most fun I have had in the studio.Equipment
I used my standard kit (Canon 5d mkII), a set of comet lights, and a soft box in this photo. I was able to get down on her level pretty easily with a pocket wizard, and she was a good sport about the whole thing all in all. I remember she kept wanting to chew on any cable she could find as she was teething at the time.Inspiration
To be honest she just looked like a little, puffy, fluff ball. I have taken pictures of door knobs in the past because the mood struck me if that makes sense.Editing
Punched it up, and pushed it a little far in my book, but I am happy with the results. Most of my work I like to do in camera, because I am a pretty lazy editor. In my camera bag
A notebook, a pen, rubber bands, measuring tape, cheapo hand meter, business cards, lenses and bodies, spare AA batteries.Feedback
Work fast, and be empathetic. If it happens then be as ready as you can, but don't try and force anything.
