It's such a shame that you only have a handful of your works posted to viewbug. This one is gorgeous. And 'yes' - this is so obvious that you're into B&W and 'painting with shadows' thing. Please upload more :)

Behind The Lens

Location

This Image was shoot in my home studio. I though the dark grey wash up color of this particular wall would made for a good background in B & W

Time

later on the afternoon, I did some photos earlier w natural light but at the time of this photo there was non anymore so I was trying different setting with artificial light.

Lighting

I was manly interested in the amazing texture of her super soft perfect skin, so for this particular shoo I used a single light, a lateral medium sized soft box and move it around slightly until I got the desired effect, she was very patient and very cooperative.

Equipment

Canon 6D camera over a tripod, a 24-70 mm lens and a medium soft box flash light.

Inspiration

The texture of her skin just looked amazing, you can tell how much care she puts on her skin, I wanted to find a way to show it and play around with the lighting for a little bit . the image was planned for B&W from the beginning, I wanted her to almost blend with the dark side of the background. Im a very big fan of shadows and the shapes they create... and textures, I think this image has all that.

Editing

besides the regular color correction and light adjustments, I worked some details from the texture of the background in photoshop, also the details of the hair and face using level separation technique

In my camera bag

Depends a lot of what Im shooting, but the basics would be 2 camera bodies, and at least a couple of lenses from 24 to 200 mm. maybe a tripod and a flash head..oh, and a harness to carrie the cameras.

Feedback

It helps a lot to have an idea/ideas of what you re trying to accomplish , that being said, I do play and experiment a lot on the moment with the lighting, the posing and compositions. When working with models, always make sure they are as comfortable as posible, temperature of the location, breaks , snacks, hydration, robes, fans .. what ever it will help to make them more comfortable. Not only they will feel and look better on the pictures , but they will appreciate it and will be more cooperative and willing , even creative. Also helps if you take the mind of the posing by talking to them about other subjects other that the photograph..
