This photo was taken in a Friend's apartment that we were using as a studio for this shooting , my friend , a a make up artist, has a nice very spacious condo that she let me shoot some times.Time
it was in the middle of the afternoon, that is when the most and nicer light hits the apartment, it really helps that all the walls are white and it has dark courtines to modify the light is necessary.Lighting
I was just using the natural available light, and some large white towels as reflectors ..Equipment
as most of the time , I was using two Canon 6D bodies with different lenses , so I don't have to be changing lenses to often, usually a 50mm and a 24-70mm for this kind of shooting, I know I already have the 50mm in to the 24-70 but , the feeling I get with the 50mm f/1.4 its different and just so cool..Inspiration
I can really take credit for the planning of this particular photo, it was one of those images that just... find you!! ... the model was just being a little lazy, relaxing between planned poses and lighting set ups when I saw her like that.. so... calm.. so ... enjoying some minutes with her self... and I got the feeling that this is the image when a lucky man wakes up, open the eyes and .. she is just there..Editing
besides the obvious B&W treatment , I just cleaned a tiny bit the skin and background in photoshop, ad a tiny bit of vignetteIn my camera bag
usually I carry 2 Canon 6D bodies , a 50mm, a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm. Maybe one of two flash heads and a couple of modifiersFeedback
I thing 2 of the most important things when doing these kind of photos are: 1- to have a idea of what kind of images you want to achieve, probably the end result it will not be EXACTLY as you have them in you head, they may even be better.. but is important to have a few ideas to start with, share those ideas with the model usually helps, both , to achieve those ideas, and also to make her feel at ease, witch brings me to the point number: 2- allow yourself and the model some time to be comfortable with each other, ease in to the session, share the ideas of what you want to accomplish .. in general do things to make the model feel comfortable and at ease. its amazing the wonderful results when the model is relaxed and trust you.
