Behind The Lens

Location

I took this portrait on a trip to Marwell zoological park in the uk.

Time

The shot was taken just as the park was closing around 5pm. It was one of a number of shots I grabbed before leaving.

Lighting

Taken in natural late afternoon light.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5d mk3, Canon 200-400L lens and manfrotto monopod.

Inspiration

The park had successfully bred their tigers and had a litter of 3 Cubs. I spent probably 10-12 hour on my days off watching the Cubs to get the right shot.

Editing

Simple post was done in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I Carry my EOS 5d mk3, canon 24-105L f4, canon 70-200L f2.8 and Samyang 14mm f2.8. A selection of nd filters and holder plus a variable polariser.

Feedback

You must spend the time to watch your subject before picking up the camera. You can learn their habits and favourite places as well as the light conditions at various times of the day to plan your shots ahead of time. That way hopefully you'll get the shot you want first time.
