I recently watched a couple of videos by Elia Locardi where he explained an interesting technique he uses on some of his images. The technique involves taking several shots of a location over time (30 mins to an hour plus) and then blending the images together.
I tried applying this technique to this shot of Melbourne at dusk. The first shot was taken at sunset and the second about 30 mins later as all of the lights came on in the city. I blended to two together using Photoshop. It wasn't quite as simple as Elia made it look and I spend quite a bit of time blending back and forth between the two shots until I got an image I was happy with.
