Nice shot! My critique: rotate the little frog so he's looking eight-sided up? Possibly crop slightly.. I look forward to following and learning from you!

Excellent shot! I like the space, and the fact that he's upside down! great work!

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at a garden in Honolulu, HI

Time

This was taken at 9:00am after the morning showers fill this plant with water. The gecko come out and drink the rain water.

Lighting

The lighting was all natural. It was a cloudy day and it created a nice soft light for this photo.

Equipment

I used a Sony A7ii with a 70-300G f/5.6, No tripod and flash.

Inspiration

I saw many photos that Darcy Fiero took of Geckos and I loved it. You can find her work at https://www.instagram.com/darcyfierophotography/

Editing

I did a little bit of processing. I toned down the highlights and brought out details in the shadows.

In my camera bag

My equipment is pretty standard. My Sony A7ii, Zeiss Batis 18mm lens, Sony 24-70 lens, a remote control, tripod, a chair to relax, and a Spam Musubi to snack on.

Feedback

Slow down and not try to rush the shot. When you are still, the gecko will come out of hiding and maybe pose for you.
