Everyday we are surrounded by, and interact with a lot of objects which have become so normal that we don't notice them anymore. These objects are the subjects in my artistic practice. My research revolving around these everyday objects often manifests in photos or either photography based 3D work.
In a typical situation, objects are always related to us. They are our tools, our assistance. We make use of these objects and see only their function, while they also possess other characteristics like amongst others form and colour.
In the body of my work, I re-contextualize objects and arrange them in different ways. By placing an object outside its original context, I can get a more specific view on them and reflect. To investigate them I try to see them from different perspectives and evoke new cross connections through a playful way of working. I use their form, lines, colours and meaning and experiment with the influence of these elements on eachother. When is an object seen as just form and colour and when does meaning come in? (And vice versa.)
In my work I try to give as much, sometimes more, value to the other characteristics of the object as to their function.
