Beautiful combination of the best elements of convict lake. :-) The fall colors, the low hanging clouds and a bit of early winter snow on the slopes. Not to mention the beautiful light you have here. Well timed and gorgeously framed. :-)

Location
This shot was taken late afternoon in early fall. I was initially disappointed to see it snowing, but when I arrived at the scene, the snow capped mountains added a special "look" which gives the image a look of season transition.Time
Late afternoon.Lighting
The brooding clouds add to the overall effect by acting like a giant lightbox.Equipment
I used a Canon 5d Mark 111 with a Canon 24-70 L lens. Tripod and ballhead are from Really Right Stuff.Inspiration
The feeling of awe inspiring transition reminded me of life's transitions.Editing
I used some dodging and burning as well as a minimum use of Topaz Adjust. In my camera bag
I use virtually all Canon gear in terms of camera body and lens. I also pack several filters including a polarizer, neutral density and graduated neutral density filters, a Canon flash, cable release and several cellphone photo apps.Feedback
Be aware of color and lighting...look for reflections and mood.
