Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in the Maasai Mara, not in the Reserve but on the sundowner drive back to Kicheche Bush Camp..
Time
Mara sunsets are awesome on their own, we would stop for a sundowner just before the sun started to drop...
Lighting
The sun drops like a stone in the Mara so you need to be ready, another five minutes and the sun would have vanished into the cloud, the cloud layer diffused the light beautifully but timing is all!
Equipment
Canon 40D with a 75-300mm lens, lying on the ground
Inspiration
I find giraffe a very majestic but enigmatic animal and loved the way this one was headed towards the sun like a ship across the ocean... the “up” flick of the tail as I pressed the shutter was a bonus!
Editing
None, photo is as shot
In my camera bag
None!! My bag and kit all got stolen and I’ve not been able to afford to replace it yet so shooting on iPhone currently
Feedback
Timing and angles! Look up from down and look down from up to get alternative views
