Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at one of the mountains surrounding Machu Picchu - Peru.

Time

I took a train+bus tour to these famous ruins. I had lunch in Aguas Calientes, the town where people must change from train to the bus, and then following to Machu Picchu. Arriving there, I walked around before going down the archeological site and saw these llamas grazing on the mountain terraces. It was around 3 or 5 p.m.

Lighting

I was lucky because the sun was lighting that side of the mountain at that time. So, the whole landscape was clear enough for the photo.

Equipment

At that time I used my older Canon Powershot SX710 HS and didn't use any flash, special lens or tripod.

Inspiration

I always loved Nature and I feel much comfortable in it. So everything coming from Nature is excellent for me to photograph. As my passion obviously includes animals, this was one very good chance to take both.

Editing

As always, when I arrive home I review all my travel photos and as almost always I made a resizing, straightening and improved the contrast a little bit.

In my camera bag

As a complete but passionate photo amateur, nowadays I rarely take photos with my older digital camera Olympus VG-160, more often with my previous camera Canon Powershot SX730 HS, taking with me extra batteries, a Star 63 166-3D tripod and a small "Gorilla" one. Most recently, I’m using my newest camera Canon EOS200d with a Canon 55-250mm lens and a brand new Tamron lens 18-400mm.

Feedback

Who am I to give advices to others? I'm a laywoman. What I can say is that if you like photography, try to take photos of everything which call your attention or you like. Whenever possible, take into consideration the light, perspective and composition. Photography starts in your mind through your eyes and your images can tell a lot of things to others, help others, inform others. And, if you really like photography and you have no ideas, then… photograph what you have.
