Location
My wife beach combs, and we had a pile of old dried sea urchin shells in a basket on the back of our toilet of all places.Time
It was taken in the evening indoors, so it was all artificial light.Lighting
At the time we had a dome light with frosted glass and compact fluorescent bulbs, so the lighting was pretty soft and directly above.Equipment
I took this with my iPhone SE I believe, but I had an original generation Ztylus revolver kit lens set which contained a macro/wide, fisheye and CPL filter attachment. It was new, so I was playing around with it. As you can probably tell, I was using the macro lens attachment.Inspiration
I've always thought that sea urchin shells had cool patterns, and I was playing around with a new "toy" so I was looking for neat things to try to take pictures of.Editing
Nope, other than perhaps cropping because this was taken with the native iPhone app. At the time I didn't even know how to change exposure or lock focus on it. This is essentially straight out of the phone. Since then, I've learned a lot of tricks with the device, got better apps, etc.In my camera bag
Nowadays, I have 2 go-to devices... I have my iPhone 8, which I use with the Ztylus z-prime lenses (I have a 2x tele, a wide, a macro, and a long-range macro lens), and I mount the mount in an Adonit photo grip, so I can keep my hands steadier, or use a tripod if needed (and it has a bluetooth shutter remote, so that's nice. I have this on me at all times, so I can capture stuff as needed. I also use a Canon M-100 Mirrorless... usually with the stock lens, but I also have a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 that I have an adaptor for and use usually on trips, or in lower light situations, like my kid's ballet recitals and stuff like that. I take this when I'm PLANNING to take pictures in advance, since it's much more to lug around.Feedback
Take lots of photos and discard the crappy ones after you have a chance to review it.
