Behind The Lens

Location

Siem Reap Cambodia has so many photographic opportunities and Angkor Wat was the perfect back drop to capture this moment. I couldn't miss this opportunity.

Time

the timing was not the best as this was taken mid afternoon when the light was strong and bright, but the opportunity presented it self and needed to be taken advantage there and than.

Lighting

As this was a spontaneous shot, I had to accept the light as it was. Looking back now the way I framed the shot nullified the harshness of the mid afternoon sun.

Equipment

I used my Canon 600d with a kit 55-250 hand held, my aperture was 71/10 with ISO of 100, shutter speed 1/400 and the focal length 55/1. I try to always have my camera close at hand so not to miss the opportunities that present themselves.

Inspiration

I have found Cambodia a very intriguing country with it's historical ruins and fascinating people whom I found to be very friendly and accommodating. When I saw this girl in the red dress sitting on the stone wall in front of the Angkor Wat tower, I straight away saw what the finished product would look like. the red against the black and white back ground was something special to me.

Editing

with post processing of this shot I de-saturated all the colour than brought up the reds and whites, I added a little mood and not much else. I used light room cc for my post processing, still at the beginning stages of learning pp.

In my camera bag

I am a beginner in photography so my equip is basic, Canon 600d with kit lenses, it's not always about the equipment but having eye to see what is presented before you and then making it work, creativity comes from the heart.

Feedback

for me it is always be ready you never know when the moment will come, let your eyes look beyond what you see in front of you and follow your heart.
