Behind The Lens

Location

At the O.W.L sanctuary in Delta BC. Markus was hit by a logging trucks and was unable to be released back into the wild because of a badly broken wing, so he has become the ambassador of Eagles for the sanctuary. He helps raise awareness in our communities of the dangers and issues that the Bald Eagles face in our changing environment.

Time

This was around 11am and under cover.

Lighting

No

Equipment

I believe this was taken with my Nikon D70s as I was not working at the time. This photo opportunity was not planned and I just happened to have my camera with me to take advantage of it.

Inspiration

Markus has such intense eyes. I could just see the wild in him and it is not very often that you can get within 5 feet of such a gorgeous creature.

Editing

Absolutely nothing other then brightness adjustment. I was only about 5 feet away from him and he seemed to be posing so I was able to take many shots with many different lighting settings.

In my camera bag

I now have my trusty Nikon D3 as my main camera, and my old faithful Nikon D2X as back-up, but I recently added a Nikon D3400 for travel and when more MP is needed. I have the 18-140mm on my D2X and 28-120mm on my D3. I also have a 50mm fixed lens, a 400mm lens and a few external flashes in my bag.

Feedback

Patience, Patience, Patience and alway bring a camera with you just in case the opportunity arises.
