Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Paphos, Cyprus in the Old Town. There are many streets in the Old Town where abandoned walls are covered in great graffiti art. This happened to be one of them.

Time

I remember walking around town every available afternoon, in search of new scenes to photograph. This image was taken around 4 or 5 pm, when the sun was low in the sky.

Lighting

As I previously stated, the sun was low in the sky, making this reflection possible.

Equipment

This was shot handheld with a Sony a6000 and its kit lens 16-50 mm.

Inspiration

When I first bought my Sony a6000, I became fascinated with Street Photography. After a while, I began observing reflections and started a project based on them. This image was part of my Reflections project.

Editing

In street photography there is no need for to much post-processing. The only adjustments I did here was converting the file from color to black and white.

In my camera bag

I always like to plan ahead for my shots because I like to pack light. I usually carry only one camera with me and one lens. If it's landscape I photograph, I also bring a tripod. However, I always carry one of my cameras with me, either Sony a6000 or Sony a7Rii. I usually pair Sony a6000 with 18-105 mm and Sony a7Rii with 50mm 1.8 or manual 7artisans 8mm fish-eye. But, things my vary depending on the mood. Also for light, I have a video light that comes really handy for portraits and food photography.

Feedback

I believe in originality. And that originality comes from observing the world around us. Then you start noticing reflections all around you, so you can use them in your composition. Also, remember you have to pay attention to the light as it's paramount.
