Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in rural Ponoka County.

Time

This photograph was taken sometime in the afternoon shortly before a storm settled in.

Lighting

Lighting was all natural no artificial lighting was used for this photograph.

Equipment

This image was shot with a Canon 1D MK III and a Sigma 24-70mm.

Inspiration

A close friend of my husbands (person driving the vehicle) father had passed away tragically and this car was left to him by his father. He had contacted us to go for a drive and take some photographs of the car and this was a product of that quick session. His father always quoted "tires are pavement crayons" so this just happened to be the best way to portray that saying. Let's just say we colored the pavement for him that day.

Editing

Post processing was done through lightroom for minor adjustments (color correction, exposure etc.) then was transferred into Photoshop for fine details such as sharpening, more color correction and enhancement.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 1D MK 111 and 1D IV along with my Canon 70-200mm and Sigma 24-70mm.

Feedback

My advice is think outside the box. Toss the book and bring your vision to life! If you are constantly trying to follow all the rules it makes it difficult to create something that is your own. Eye level to the subject and let your creativity roam free.
