This was taken on the innacessible inner island of Kauai, Hawaii from a helicopter.Time
This was taken around 11 am. I was worried about harsh overhead light but was relieved to see some clouds that day.Lighting
The lighting was perfect for this specific set of waterfalls. The clouds diffused the light beautifully over the falls.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with a Tamron 15-30 lens. I also was in a helicopter with the doors taken off.Inspiration
Seeing all the amazing waterfalls that Kauai has to offer made me really wonder how dense the inner part of the island looked.Editing
This image didn't require much post processing. The only thing I did was bring down the highlights and open up some of the shadows. I also painted on some brightness to draw the eye more towards the falls.In my camera bag

The absolute key to this image was getting in the sky. This area is only accessible by helicopter or an intense multi-day hike. When shooting from a helicopter you have to keep your shutter speed very high in order to get a clean shot. This image was taken at 1/2000 of a second. In order to keep shutter speed that high I chose shutter priority mode and let auto ISO determine how much sensitivity was needed.
