Location
This was taken on a cold January morning in Oman, where these beautiful ladies come to lay their eggs in the sand in the winter.Time
I remember waking up at dawn and walking down to the beach, hoping to maybe catch a glimpse of a tortoise, or at least taking some shots of the trails they leave when walking back into the sea. But after about two hours in the crispy air and hundreds of sunrise shots I got lucky noticing this mamma walking back into the sea.Lighting
The sun had just gotten out and thanks to the cold wind the air was completely clear, without any fog or mist, letting all the sun lighten the cliff and the tortoise.Equipment
This was shot on Nikon L820.Inspiration
I love photos of the nature and animals in their environment and was absolutely delighted when I noticed this girl on the beach, slowly crawling back to the sea and with the morning sunlight brightening up the cliff and the beach, making the moment so magical, I wanted to capture it.Editing
I enhanced the color balance to emphasize the cliff shadows. In my camera bag
I am not super evolved with the equipment, but one thing I always carry with me is my Olympus 790SW, because it is waterproof and I love to play with water photos, plus it is helpful, if it starts raining all of the sudden.Feedback
I think with this one it just takes a lot of patience, waking up early and waiting patiently in the cold wind. The tortoises usually leave before sunrise, so you really need some luck to see them this late in the morning. The wind helped clearing the sky, so the sunlight really shone right onto the cliff, taking care of the perfect colors.
