I was out photographing the first Spring butterflies in the fields of rural Bracknell when I chanced upon a small family group of foxes. They were making their home in an old rusty barn and were out enjoying the sunshine. This little one seemed particularly inquisitive.Time
I had been out since first light photographing roosting butterflies but as the sun had got a little higher and the butterflies a little more active I had decided to head home- I caught movement out of the corner of my eye that I initially thought was probably a Pheasant- it was only when I got closer that I realised it was a fox cub- first one- then two.. and finally all four playing in the field beside the barn.Lighting
I like how the light comes through the back of this little one's ears and how the fur looks so fluffy- I am a self taught photographer and learning all the time with regard to lighting.Equipment
This was captured on a Canon 600d with 70-300mmInspiration
As with most of my favourite photographs this was very much a case of being in the right place at the right time. Sometimes we visit places with a particular project in mind- hoping to see something specific and yet Lady Luck smiles upon us.Editing
I don't do any post-processing- I like the photograph I post to be as it was out of the back of the camera. In my camera bag
As a new photographer on a limited budget my camera equipment is quite basic Canon 600d 18-55mm lens which I tend to use most for butterflies and dragonflies. My hands and knees lens. I also carry a Canon 70-300mm lens which I use more for birds and dragonflies in flight. My most important piece of kit is my notebook oh and spare battery. Never again will I run out of battery when I'm out or the day.Feedback
I was once asked how I found all the wildlife I photographed- the truth is it is all out there. I like to try and get out as much as I can he and to as many different habitats to increase the range of species I see.
