This photo was taken at my home in Colorado. While I was enjoying my early morning coffee and Ruby came bounding into the kitchen, pasted her face on the sliding glass doors and saw that there was a new blanket of snow on the ground. She started to do her excited wiggle butt dance indicating to me that she wanted out in that yard full of beautiful snow. Ruby loved snow more than anything in the world.Time
Around 6:00 a.m. in the morning on a cold cloudy day in Southern Colorado, along with a new blanket of snow on the ground.Lighting
After Ruby bounded in the back door fresh from rolling, jumping, plowing and bounding through the nearly 2 feet of snow; I was ready with my camera. She had a face full of snow (which was beginning to melt) and the light streaming in the back door was just perfect to take the shot. Not too sunny...and not too cloudy...just right.Equipment
My trusty Canon T3i Rebel was used for this shot with a macro lens. No flash just the beautiful light from a snowy day framing her face.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo because my beautiful Ruby's health was failing and I wanted to catch the exuberance of her love for snow. Sadly, Ruby was 17 1/2 when she passed this year. This photo reminds me everyday of her love for life and especially snow!Editing
I did some cropping and a little contrast in Photoshop. I didn't need to do a lot, this was one of those shots that was near perfect that you rarely can capture.In my camera bag
My Canon T3i, my Olympus OM-1 (oldie but a definite goody). 300mm telephoto lens, 55-135 mm lens and different types of filters. Tripod and lots of lens cleaning paraphernalia. I don't carry to much equipment just take what I think I will need at the time.Feedback
Just keep shooting! At times I take up to 25 photos of one shot just hoping for that "sweet photo" as I call it. You know the one, that perfect shot that you just know it's the one when you see it.
