Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken whilst taking some 'time out' for a walk with my little ones this is my youngest Cerys Mae who always like to pose for daddy!

Time

This was taken mid morning while out on a walk with my family, we're very lucky we live in the countryside so we are always off on little adventures as always camera in hand.

Lighting

I love capturing people 'in the moment' and whilst I have done a little post editing to get the exact feel i was looking for the lighting was natural.

Equipment

This was shot on my trusty Nikon D300 with a 24-70 f2.8 no flash and handheld

Inspiration

I love taking pictures of people children in particular they have some great expressions to share and their characters really shine through, and what could be better than capturing a memory of one of my own!

Editing

A little tweak to the highlights and shadows is normally all i do post edit and a conversion to black and white of course for this image

In my camera bag

I normally never leave home without my Nikon D3 or D300 along with my 24-70 f2.8 and my 70-200 f2.8 then dependent on where i'm off i normally take either a tripod or monopod and not forgetting my flash

Feedback

you have to have patience when taking children and give them time to forget you've got your camera otherwise they can play to the lens which doesn't give as natural capture, which is my preference. and of course be prepared for the great British weather that can change in an instant so i always carry a few large freezer bags which make great temporary rain covers.
