I've took this picture during a family shoot in our studio at the Kalmthoutse Fotokring in the north of Antwerp, BelgiumTime
Normally I try to shoot at that time of day that gives me the best light for the picture I have in mind. Luckily in a studio you can shoot any time of day as long as the lighting is working properly.Lighting
For this picture i've used 2 studio flashes, one with a soft box 60x80 cm and the other in combination with a snoot for the hair lightEquipment
When I started shooting I've used usually my Canon DSLR 400d in combination with the 18-200 Sigma zoom lens. The flashes that we have to our disposal are older Elinchrome types which were triggered wireless.Inspiration
What initially started as a family shoot for my wife's colleague, three sons and a daughter, turned into a shoot of Kayleigh. At first it was a bit difficult since this was the first time ever she stood before a camera. Going along she turned into a real model getting the right poses and expressions. Although Kayleigh's age at this moment was only 14 years old she already had this natural mature beauty and thats what inspired me to make this picture.Editing
I always try to make my pictures the best as they can get out of the camera so post processing is kept to a minimum. Of course I use Lightroom to make small changes such as getting the white- and black point right, convert it into B&W, smoothening skin and cropping if necessary.In my camera bag
Since I bought my first camera a Canon 400D my equipment started to grow. First there was the Canon EF 24-105 f4 then the Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 and these days I'm also a proud owner of a Canon 5D mark IIIFeedback
Since I'm still learning everyday I only can say that you have to look for light and shadows. This pictures was made @ approx. 85mm with an aperture f8 and a shutter speed of 1/40 which is rather slow. Now days I'm using mostly a shutter speed around 1/125 to 1/160
