The Signer was inspired by Pennsylvanian George Clymer, a signer of both the Constitution and the Declaration. The statue "commemorates the spirit and deeds of all who devoted their lives to the cause of American freedom."
Located right across from Independence Hall, Signers Garden is a meeting place for Independence National Historical Park programming and other sightseeing tours including the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia. Standing tall as a symbol for American freedom, the signer statue located right in the heart of the garden is modeled after George Clymer, a Philadelphia merchant and statesman who signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.
