Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken in my home studio, better known as my dining room most of the timeTime
I took this picture in the early eveningLighting
I relied on light coming through a window to the right just behind me as well as having a flash set to quite low power bouncing off the ceiling as a bit of fill light. The window gave a nice soft light, but there was just a bit too much shadow on the left of Tiffany's face without the extra from the flashEquipment
I had some very basic equipment for this picture, a Nikon D3100 along with the 18-55 kit lens set at 28mm. I also used an SB600 flash off camera.Inspiration
Tiffany is my daughter, and I really think she would make a beautiful model, she has a very natural smile and nice complexion. Any chance I get, I try to persuade Tiffany to model for me.Editing
I use lightroom for basic editing, some colour correction and a slight crop in this case.In my camera bag
This is an almost impossible question to answer, every day I have something different in my bag. I don't have just one genre of photography, so go equipped for what I intend shooting. Most of my kit is either Nikon or Sony, but have some Tamron and Sigma lenses as well.Feedback
For me this was easy, but I think if you want a good looking portrait, you need to have a good rapport to make sure your model is comfortable and achieve that natural look.
