Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while I was at work on Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. I saw an opportunity for a great photo and had to take it! I snuck out of work and snapped a few pictures with my cell phone. It was a view I wanted to remember forever!

Time

The sun was starting to set and I could see it disappearing behind the mountains through the windows of the restaurant. It was nearly 8PM when I ran outside to snap this quick picture!

Lighting

I tried multiple angles trying to capture the moment as I had wanted. There was a lamp post well lit and obscuring the view. I stepped in front of it about 2 feet and it created the perfect lighting for the photo op!

Equipment

Believe it or not, this photo was shot with a cheap Samsung Galaxy Prime phone that I picked up for next to nothing. I was amazed at the quality of pictures it took. I used the pre installed camera as is and no special apps or effects. Just a plain Jane phone camera!

Inspiration

I get to see this beautiful sight each say while at work and never take pictures. I decided this sunset and view was a view I wanted to see again. I had to get a picture of it!

Editing

I am not a professional photographer by any means. This was a quick shoot with a phone camera and uploaded instantly!

In my camera bag

Usually the only piece of camera equipment I carry is my phone. I would love to get into it more, it's something I truly love. A nice camera with some great lenses is something I have always wanted but could never fit into my budget as a mother of three. I will continue using my phone to cherish these moments until having a professional camera is in the budget.

Feedback

My only advice is not to feel like you can't capture a great moment on camera because you don't own fancy equipment. When using a phone camera, play around with it, try different angles and positions until you get it right. Take a hundred photos if you have to, to get even one that you will cherish forever!
