Location
This photo was taken on my first photo trip to Lofoten, Norway in 2016.Time
It was taken at 3 pm on a cold winter day in January.Lighting
In the north, the sun goes down very early during winter, this was taken at 3 pm and the sun was already about to go down. The light was soft thanks to the early sunset, and also because of the cloudy sky.Equipment
I shot this with my Nikon D800, Nikon 16-35 f/4 lens, Gitzo tripod and a 10 stop ND filter.Inspiration
I have seen some other photographers work from this location, so when i visited Lofoten i just had to check this place out.Editing
Something i always do with my photos is to increase the shadows and decrease the highlights to get more details in the shot. I also added some of the "Orton effect" wich gives the picture a little more soft look. Other than that i just did some minor adjustments, such as contrasts, white balance etc.In my camera bag
Other than my lenses, camera and tripod, i always bring a few micro fibre cloths, especially when i'm visiting places up north, since the weather up there can vary a lot. I also bring my shutter release to get as sharp photos as possible.Feedback
I really like the effect of an long exposure, so i would recommend anyone to test it out! A 6 stop or 10 stop ND filter should be fine, and don't forget your tripod, otherwise your photos won't be sharp.
