We was on a family road trip up to Scotland to see friends and family, being as we have to travel for a while to get to different parts to see everyone with four kids in a car! We'd head out to a nearby park from the hotel after breakfast to let the kids run off some steam. Syd my eldest daughter (11yr old in the photo) wasn't happy we made her change clothing to something more suitable for the days activities..... melt down time!!!! Just so happened I had the camera out to get some nice shots of the kids being happy in the park.Time
This photo was taken around 9-10am. Being over the boarder the sun was still quite low and I managed to get her to face the sun to hopefully pull the details out in the eyes.Lighting
This was well after the "golden hour" but the sun was still quite low and had a nice warm glow to it, it wasn't too harsh to blow the details out or make syd squint.Equipment
This was taken with my Canon 600D and Canon 50mm 1.4, ISO 100, f2.8 ( just to keep most of the details sharpish) and the shatter sped of 1/400. As I say the light was good.Inspiration
Have a look at the other 47 photos selected l. Kids are great when they are smiling and happy running around doing normal kid things, i'd seen tons of great images of children in B&W sad and thought what great powerful images they are. Finally managed to get one with out the use of torture ; )Editing
Sadly I'm not advanced enough for the lokes of PS or LR. So I only use snapseed on my iPad or phone.... colour shot then added a bit of an HDR effect then a bit of touching up hear and there, converted to B&W. hopefully next year I'll start to try out the big boys toys....In my camera bag
As I mentioned above I only have the 600D body. The main lenses I use is the 50 and a sigma 10-20mm. I have a Canon 60mm macro and kit lens and big standard 75-300, but stick to my favourites..... I also carry a whisk, wire wool and a World War Two Russian gas mask for when I get out urbexing, that's a whole different story.Feedback
Just keep trying and trying, I never find I get the shot I was going out to get when shooting the kids, but that just kids being kids, happy or sad.
