This photo was take at a Marine Corps Homecoming on Camp Pendleton, California. My husband was in the Marine Corps, so I had the privilege of photographing many Marine Homecomings.Time
This image was taken around 11:30pm. Military homecomings can be at any time, so you have to be prepared for anything.Lighting
It was very dark out, but there was a bright flood light that I used to light my subjects.Equipment
I used my Sony A99, and my favorite lens, my 85mm. And the light I used the flood light behind me.Inspiration
I was photographing a homecoming and I wanted to make sure to capture the perfect moment, where daughter runs into her daddy's arms. It is very important to stay aware of your surroundings and know what is going on.Editing
I adjusted the contrast, levels, and saturation. I also calmed the noise.In my camera bag
I always carry my favorite lenses, my 85mm, 50mm, 16mm fisheye, and then my 16-70mm zeiss, just incase. And I can't forget my Sony A99 body.Feedback
If you're capturing a homecoming at night, make sure you know how to use your lighting. Whether it is your off camera flash, or the light from a flood light. Also make sure to take any an all shots at a homecoming. You are capturing precious, once in a lifetime, moments.
