With the sun split by the light pole gave me a mirrored image of the sun. This was on the boardwalk near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.

I waited until the sun was up a bit and glowing off the light house!

A great heron taking a walk on a pier on the river.

This moth was moving from flower to flower before he or she finally stayed still enough to take the picture. Beautiful color pattern.

A Great Heron was on an old pier and looking for something to eat and just as the sun came up he stayed there. I had to sneak up on him slowly.

The Promenade was empty on an early morning. Great site to sit and watch the river and the bay!

I was standing on the board walk and looking toward Perry Point right before dawn. The ducks were everywhere.

This golden and brown colored moth was resting on a flowered weed.

The ice was built up over the shore line and the sky was changing colors by the minute.

This early sun was providing a beautiful reflection on the water.

The photo was taken at Concord Point right where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay in Havre de Grace MD 21078.

Time

Early morning right after dawn

Lighting

Fortunately the clouds were blocking the most intense sun rays which allowed me to take the picture without a lot of over bright glows.

Equipment

I believe I used my Panasonic GH3 with no flash.

Inspiration

The clouds obstructing the sun painted the river and the sky and seeing no boats in the pier made me want to take this picture.

Editing

Did not do any post processing as I could not see a way to make it better.

In my camera bag

Normally I have either a Pentax or Panasonic camera with me at all times.

Feedback

You have to get up early before the sun rises. It helps if there are some clouds to help block the intensity of the sun as it rises. The day after a storm usually produces some great clouds that paint the sky and entire background with color. The time for taking this type of picture only lasts a few minutes so you have to be prepared to take a number of shots before and after you get the best light!
