Good Grief, this should have won on originality alone.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photos took was a combination of shots. The snail was took in my garden crawling along the paving stones so I had to get low to get the required angle. Tthe house parts were took from neighbours houses on the same day which the majority are all took from one shot..

Time

All took in daylight no flash required

Lighting

Natural light

Equipment

Canon 1Dx camera with a Canon L series 100mm macro lens

Inspiration

The thought of snails having an house on their back and being mobile gave me the idea to elaborate on the idea and use Photoshop to bring the scene to life

Editing

Of course post processing was required to create the image and photoshop was used to do so. The water effect in front of the snail was created by a mixture of drawings, flipped layers and Alien Skin filters.

In my camera bag

I carry almost everything I need around my neck which is usually a Canon 1 Dx DSLR and a Canon 7D Mk2 both with differing focal length lenses so I don't have to mess around when a shot becomes available. My bag usually contains spare batteries, lens cleaners, a couple of prime lenses and extension tubes.

Feedback

Practise your photoshop skills for this type of work and don't be afraid to experiment when doing so as lots can be learnt from playing with images. There are many free learning resources on the web and in magazines etc. make sure you search them out before paying for an expensive course where a lot of things may not be applicable to what your trying to replicate.
