Location
The picture was taken in an insect museum. The museum is located in the Maesa Valley in the near of Chiang Mai, Thailand.Time
The photo was taken almost exactly at noon (12:16). This causes the image of the surrounding plants made natural colors and shades obtained.Lighting
The best light for outdoor shots in Sports mode is in my view the daylight at noon. Thus, no shadow has mostly the disturb the image and you can work without a flash.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon EOS 70D, with an 24-105 L 1:4 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I am fascinated by the different kinds of butterflies and the beautiful colors. The best place to see so many different types of butterfly's and to take photos of them was for me the Insect zoo in this museum - what my pictures confirm.Editing
Yes, I used the Lightroom Program to add a bit more contrast and bring depth of field in the image. I think it's legitimate and it makes the difference between a good and a very good image. In my camera bag
I usually take my Canon EOS 6D with the 24-104 L1: 4 lens. This camera is ideal when shooting in low light, for portraits, street photography and many other situations. As a second camera I have the Canon EOS 70D as these for sports shots and fast moving objects and animals provides a good complement to the 6D. Also the 70D features over a built-in flash which can be useful in some situations.Feedback
I can not give big tips. But what I always myself realize that you should take as many pictures as possible. Also you should use the various settings of the camera and try out new settings. So to a good picture there is no obstacle.
