Behind The Lens

Location

I was at the Abbotsford international airshow Aug 2016, my friend picked up some photo passes for the Friday evening show.

Time

this would have been taken in the early evening I would guess around 5:30 or 6pm

Lighting

it was early evening, hot sunny day, I used a hood for my lens and a UV filter

Equipment

I was using my Canon t5i and my 500mm lens, my ISO was 200, f 5.6, 1/1600 sec,

Inspiration

I have always been fascinated with aviation and planes, as a kid I would have my older brother take me to the local airport to watch planes land. my love for planes just grew from there and now aviation photography is a passion of mine.

Editing

I used light room to bring out some of the yellow and to bring out some of the blue in the sky, during the airshow the aerobatic teams use a lot of smoke so the back ground was a little hazy.

In my camera bag

I usually carry two camera bodies, the canon t1i and t5i, I use canon 18-55mm and 55-250mm and 24mm lenses also sigma 10-20mm and 150-500mm lenses. extra camera cards, lens and camera cleaners, filters, and gum.

Feedback

I have been to a lot of airshows and I used to try to shoot everything and that would just frustrate me. Now I pick specific maneuvers and take my time, I look through the eye peace and follow one plane, I keep both eyes open and try to spot the other planes, I know that certain maneuvers will take place at center stage, then its just timing.
