Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Oakmont Golf Course in Santa Rosa, California. It was a great bridge, especially with the huge willow trees in the background!

Time

This was such a fun and somewhat lucky shoot! The entire day we had basically been avoiding the thunder and rain storm that had been shadowing the bride and grooms wedding, but there was a quick break in the clouds and we took advantage of the little time we had and got some great shots on this bridge!

Lighting

Because of the stormy day the lighting was actually fantastic, there were no sun spots or glare, just clean simple light, it was beautiful!

Equipment

We used a Canon Rebel T5i and a 11-16mm wide angle lens to get this shot, no other equipment.

Inspiration

Every bride wants a great shot of her and her new husband, and there is something so chic and romantic about a dip that we had to embrace it! When we saw this bridge I knew it was the perfect spot to get a classic dipping shot of our bride and groom, so we ran them over there before the storm hit and got it!

Editing

We mainly just fix the white balance and the exposure to make the photo look great, and then straighten any odd angles and crop it!

In my camera bag

We usually shoot the day with our 24-70mm lens, but my favorite is the 11-16 wide angle. I love catching the unique angles and the big open shots that this lens gives us the opportunity with! We also have a couple bigger lenses and of course a nice little nifty 50mm too for some detail shots throughout the day.

Feedback

Of course the weather was a huge factor in the lighting of this shot, but trying for a time of day where the sun is not blaring down would give you the best results with more even lighting. This would be a gorgeous shot at sunset as well!
