Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken just up from the Tower of London on my way home.

Time

The picture was taken at Night whilst walking around the city practicing long exposure shots. I thought the perspective was a little different than i usually see of this building

Lighting

This Shot was taken using ambient city lights using a 30second exposure, the light trails and starbursts were intentional and when shot with a small aperture are quite easy to achieve.

Equipment

Using a Nikon D810 and 24-70 f2.8 lens and a Gitzo systematic 5 tripod and Gitzo head, also used a Lee circular polarising filter

Inspiration

I just happened across the view as sometimes happens, and thought id see what i could produce, i've walked this way hundreds of times during the day and not given it a second glance.

Editing

Just minor sharpening and colour boosting

In my camera bag

I am never without my 2 Nikon D810s, and a set of Nikon primes 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 105mm f2.8 and also a 16-35mm and 70-200mm f2.8, set of Lee filters and Gitzo tripod

Feedback

When walking around city vistas try and look for a different perspective, up high or down low or shoot through an opening etc, try to achieve something someone else hasn't but first rule i always try to follow is have you camera with you at all times. The number of times i've missed a good opportune shot by being lazy and leaving my camera at home!!!
