Location
This photograph was taken at Islamabad,Pakistan. As an ammature photographer, I am a freak when it comes to sunsets and silhouettes and I am always hunting for moments like these.Time
This photograph was taken around two years back, but still manages to be among my favorite compositions. I have always been the kind of person, who would set up alarms just so I donot miss the sunsets. This photograph has a similar story. . It was around 5PM that October evening, when i was finally able to witness the perfect orange sun partly hidden behind the bare branches. After taking a numerous shots, I finally got the perfect one to keep the Autumn evening forever with me.Lighting
Sunset and silhouettes are one of the most beautiful compositions I can personally think of. I wanted this photograph to give the actual effect of an October sky. When the sun in setting, it gets pretty difficult to maintain a good exposure as the light is continuously changing. As i recall that day, I remember that I had to continue shooting this scene for around half an hour with really short intervals. When it comes to capturing a sunset, no one likes a really high ISO, the faded sky vet vivid sun mold them selves around perfectly.Equipment
For this photograph, I used a Nikon D5300, with its kit lens of 18mm-55mm.Inspiration
I have always fascinated nature and specially sunsets and Autumn trees. As a photography addict, I always keep my camera with me where ever I go. I always wanted to mix the black of a tree silhouette with the orange sun. I love how they complement each other, somehow making each other's flaws, flawless. I am a fall obsessed human and I absolutely love wandering around the city to capture the hidden sunsets and such enchanted moments in the chaotic city lives.Editing
Although the photograph came out much better than I expected, I did give it the final touch ups. Due to the constant changing evening light, I had to manage my ISO accordingly, which kind of disturbed the overall contrast of the picture. As a post-processing, I adjusted and increased the contrast of the picture so the braches could become more vivid and sharp. In my camera bag
I only own a 18mm-55mm nikon lens and a Sony cybershot macro camera. I usually carry these two and my Nikon D5300 with me. I also prefer carrying my ball and socket head tripod with me.Feedback
There is a lot that the nature is always ready to offer us. What I have learnt in my photography world, is that the key to a good photograph is not just the right camera settings, but also a lot of dedication and patience for that one shot. It's about trying, trying again until you are content with the photograph. The right time for a shot like this is half an hour prior to the final sunset. This gives a good amount of time to set up the equipment and camera settings. A moment is nothing until you make it a photograph.
