I was on my way to the Julian Alps to hike to the Valley of the seven lakes. Once I arrived to Bohinj I noticed how the sky was getting purple and I decided to make a short stop to take some images. The three boats and the pear make a nice line leading towards the church and with great colors in the sky, the image turned out pretty good.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took the photo at Lake Bohinj in Slovenia. It's one of the most picturesque places to photograph in Slovenia.
Time
This was shot in the early morning, before the sunrise. Fog is very often at lake Bohinj and it's hard to see sunrises like this.
Lighting
Vivid light in the clouds was amazing and sky was literally burning. Light in reflection is just the cherry on the top.
Equipment
I used Nikon D800 with Nikkor 14-24mm lens and of course a sturdy tripod. I didn't use any filters in this case.
Inspiration

The three boats and the pear make a nice line leading towards the church and with great colors in the sky, the image turned out pretty good.
Editing
I did some post processing to bring out the details in the foreground as I had to take the image underexposed to have all the great details in the sky.
In my camera bag
I always bring my Nikon D800 along ith 28-300 lens which are always my primary lens since they are very versatile. But for shots like this when I need a very wide angle I have Nikkor 14-24mm which is amazingly sharp (even in the corners) and allows you to take great images like this.
Feedback
Photographing Lake Bohinj can be very tricky. Morning fog is very common and if it's not too thick the scenery can be amazing. But on a lot of days the fog will be so thick you will hardly see the lake. This is especially true in autumn and winter so the best time to photograph the lake is late spring or early summer.
