Location
This was taken on our church premises while I waited for activities to finish. I had just received my first macro lens.Time
It was about 4pm and the sun was in a great position shedding light on the lavender and bees.Lighting
As I said the sun was in a great position giving great natural light on the lavender and bees.Equipment
This was a hand held shot using my canon 760D and new 100mm macro lens. The settings were F2.8, shutter speed 500, ISO 100.Inspiration
I love looking at plants and insects and animals, and being able to play and test a new lens was an added bonus. I loved trying to get a good clear photo of the bees around the lavender also.Editing
I didn’t do much editing. I edited the colours slightly and I cropped the photo to bring out the subject more.In my camera bag
I have right now a Canon 6D Mark ii, 24-105mm lens, 100-400mm, 100mm macro lens. Occasionally I take my 50mm, and my lensball. There is always a spare battery, spare SD cards, micro fibre cleaning cloths, CPL filter.Feedback
Be patient with macro photography. Have a go, play with the settings and learn what your camera and lens can do. Having great natural light is a bonus but when you don’t change the settings or have a flash handy.
