This was taken on a walk around my home villageTime
This one is fairly obvious: the sun was just settingLighting
I had to wait for several minutes for the sun to fall behind the horse on the leftEquipment
I shot this with a Canon 7D mk 1 with a 70-200 f4 lensInspiration
I was actually walking through the village on my way to attend a meeting, and had been asked to take pictures for the village newsletter. On my way down, I wondered if I would be able to get a picture of the sunset as the sky was looking beautiful. I knew that this field often had a great sunset view and on this night I was particularly lucky because the horses were grazing there. I waited several minutes for the horse to be aligned correctly, and took several shots. This one was my favouriteEditing
Although shot at a fairly low ISO (200) there was a bit of noise so I did reduce that slightly. I also lightened the shadows on the grass in the foreground using a graduated filter, and reduced the flare on the body of the horse on the left.In my camera bag
At that time, it would have been my Canon 7d plus the f4 70-200 and the f2.8 17-50.Feedback
Take your time. Try different shutter times (this was shot at 1/250). I tried longer and shorter intervals, but this one worked the best.
