Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at a park where our church often goes for picnics. Chegwyn Park is located in McMinnville Oregon.

Time

Right after I finished my lunch I walked around and took a bunch of candid shots. You can see how bright the sun was as a little bit of the photo is washed-out.

Lighting

I chose black and white for this image to cause the photo to look more simplistic and yet still sweet.

Equipment

I just used my trusty canon Rebl xsi with a 55-250 mm kit lens.

Inspiration

I love candid pictures so when I saw this cute kid swinging with his dad it was practically irresistible! It was a little difficult to get both of them in a position where I could capture their face but patience paid off in the end as I managed to get both of them visible in the frame.

Editing

Not too much. I don't generally like editing pictures. I think that keeping it as close to the original is possible is usually the best way to go. Not saying that everyone should do this as some people do an absolutely incredible job with their post-processing. I just prefer to keep it simple and original.

In my camera bag

Not too much as I'm just starting out in this new and wonderful world of photography! I have my camera, 50-255 lens, a 18-35 mm lens and a Gopro Hero 3+.

Feedback

Go for candid shots! And be patient if you are trying to get something unique!
