From Death Valley: After my previous evening at Natural Bridge and a short sleep at the campground I arose early to head up to this hugely popular spot for sunrise. When I say hugely popular, I mean CRUSHED with people well before dawn, in the middle of the week. I was at the spot an hour before sunrise and the parking lot was already filling up fast, so I did what any good photographer does and followed the pack! Up to the top of the viewpoint area and then did what most don't seem to do: tried to find a unique composition or something other than the obvious scene being played out before us. I'm not sure how well I succeeded, since there are only so many compositions from this spot, but I am very happy with the outcome I got shown here. I'm really interested in how complex the layers are in this image, from the lighter colored badland formations in the foreground all the way to snow capped and light kissed mountain way in the back. It really is an amazing place and I can completely see why it would be so busy. I do also think it would be an awesome candidate to hang out at during some bad weather (which would probably be much less crowded too!) to get some unique contributions to the composition.
