Behind The Lens

Location

In a neighbours paddock next door to a caravan park we were staying in at Kilarney, Qld.

Time

Just before sunset

Lighting

I used the natural lighting from the sun to highlight the dust as the horses galloped around the paddock.

Equipment

Canon 500D with a Tamron 18-270 all in one zoom lens. No tripod or flash.

Inspiration

Watching the horses frolic and the sunlight dappling the dust reminded me of playtime as a youngster & I wanted to capture the innocence of play.

Editing

Yes, I used On1 effects 10 to increase the colours.

In my camera bag

Just my camera, lens & tripod. That's all I own. Occasionally I also carry a crystal ball.

Feedback

Setting up & waiting for the right moment will sometimes give you less opportunities. I was taking photos of the sunset on the clover at ground level and noticed the horses at play so changed my subjects, and it was worth it.
